I am new to mpd and ncmpc++, was using Amarok as my media player before but I decided to give something else a shot. One thing that I miss from Amarok is the ability to (easily) stream music from the web from services like Icecast and others. I'm sure this is possible from mpd just not sure how about doing it. I mostly use Icecast and music from my MythTv box using MythWeb, which creates a m3u playlist file that the user downloads, and from Icecast I can download ether a m3u or a XSPF file. I know that if I download one of these files and place it in my Music directory then I can force a update on my database and from there I can play the radio, but is there a way to do this without adding these files to my database?
I have tried pointing ncmpc++ to the m3u|xspf file using the "add url/file/directory to playlist" but pointing it to the file on my local box I get this error "directory or file not found" and if I use the url in the file themselves then ncmpc++ says that it is playing but there is no audio produced and my network usage is way to low (at the time of writing is "playing" but my amount of data down is only .1 kbps which is to low for streaming music). I can't find anything on the Wiki regarding this nor is there anything on the projects website with such information.

Ok so after a little more searching I ran across this post of the forums which leads me to believe that my issue is a bug in ncmpc++, because using mpc to load the m3u and xspf files I am able to play the streaming radio no problems, just loading the files form ncmpc++ doesn't seem to work.
