[Gnome 3] How do I disable the Empathy messaging pop-up at the bottom?

The pop-up at the bottom is driving me crazy.  It shouldn't pop-up if you are already chatting with that person in a window.  I am writing, and all of a sudden that pop-up comes on and I lose focus.  How do I disable it?

Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

Oh really they've fixed that issue?  Great.  I'll wait till the 28th then... and then just upgrade to the final.
