hdparm Settings

I've noticed that my hard drive on my Macbook 6.1 is spinning down/up quite often on the hdparm -B 128 setting. If I'm watching a video from the hard drive, for instance, it will freeze every few seconds, I hear the HD spin up, and it resumes. I turned hdparm off for now (set it to 255), since I figure it's better to keep the HD spinning than spin it up and down all the time, and I don't want to end up killing it.

What are the best settings for hdparm in a laptop like this? Is it better to be off or on, and if it should be on, what settings should I have to keep it from overdoing its drive management?

Re: hdparm Settings

I use `hdparm -B 254` on my laptop, which does not move around much. I guess it depends on your hardware and usage.
