WLAN hard blocked on Thinkpad X60

The hardware switch Fn+F5 refuses to work, the weird thing is I think it worked once, I disabled
the WLAN via the key combo and then it just refused to go back on.
The other keys like the volume and brightness keys work just fine.

I've been having trouble with this for quite a while now, two weeks to be exact.

Any help is much appreciated.
EDIT; This topic probably should have been posted in the laptop issues-forum,
sorry about that.

Re: WLAN hard blocked on Thinkpad X60

Have you tried a livecd (Ubuntu?) to see if it won't work with a different distribution (or boot to Windows if you are dual booting with that)?

I laugh, yet the joke is on me

Yes, I have tried with Fedora Live, did not work.
Will try an other live distro and see how it goes.
I know I could just install windows and enable wifi there, but it seems a bit excessive,
since I need to be able to activate and deactivate the wlan anyway.
