So, my laptop has an idiotic broadcom card (the BCM4312 hardware revision 1).
I spent hours messing with it to get it to accept the firmware and to get the driver fully installed.
Now it returns no errors when I attempt to set it up, but the scan always reports "No results."
Any suggestions on how I can finally get this card fully functional? Or, if not, a good replacement wireless card which would be supported out of the box?
Thanks.

I use broadcom-wl from the AUR with my bcm4312 card [Broadcom Corporation BCM4312 802.11b/g LP-PHY (rev 01)].

How would I go about building the wl driver without internet access?

Download the tarball and the sources on another system, transfer them the old fashioned way, and build.

*facepalm* I can't believe I didn't think of that.
Anyhow...
I went through and blacklisted b43 and ssb and set up the wl module, and it worked like a charm.
I even got it up and running on a WPA encrypted network.
Thanks very much.
