Which version of xvba-video are you using - 7.8 or 8.0?
Im using 7.8 and its still freezing? Has anyone reported having this problem?

Do you have TearFreeDesktop option in amdcccle? Because I don't and I think, it causes my problems with video flickering. I tried add it manually to xorg.conf, but in /var/log/Xorg.log.0 I have:
(WW) fglrx (0): Option "EnableTearFreeDesktop" is not used
Any Ideas?
no, I don't.
I tried to add this option in 10-monitor.conf but not works. Same thing in Xorg.0.log as yours.

Why they take off this option? I have problem with vaapi and I think it is only way to solve it.

I recently purchased an Acer Aspire One AO722 netbook. It sports an AMD Fusion C-50 processor/graphics chip combining a dual core 1Ghz processor with an 80 core ATI 6250. I ran it on Windows for about 2 days before receiving my Microsoft refund and moving on to the fun stuff (Linux.) Before my purchase, I did some light research to see what other people had encountered with this netbook while trying to install Linux. The prognosis was grim, although, as the best netbook deal on Amazon, I went ahead and made my purchase anyways. I had Arch running a bash shell in no time, but, before X may be started, I am determined to get the ATI proprietary drivers working.
At this point, I've installed catalyst, and catalyst-utils from the unofficial Catalyst repository. Also installed, are the kernel26-headers. I've blacklisted the radeon module with a mobprobe conf file, as well as added fglrx to the module array in rc.conf and mkinitcpio.conf. When I run aticonfig, I receive this: "aticonfig: No supported adapters detected"
I've read on various forums of people succesfully using the Catalyst driver on this chipset, and I'm quite baffled as to why this isn't working for me. lspci output reads: 00.01.0 VGA compatible controllers: ATI Technologies Inc Device 1314
If anyone has an idea as to which steps I may take to resolving this issue, please let me know. Besides the graphics drivers, I've run into other issues with the wireless card, and sound so far; but, one step at a time here

Make sure you do step four from the wiki.
4.) Don't forget to prepare your /etc/X11/xorg.conf for catalyst! Use aticonfig --initial if it doesn't exist.
Hope this helps

aticonfig --initial should only be used if you don't have an X11 config file already. And, as I already said, I ran aticonfig; to which I received the message saying that no supported devices were detected.

No 3d support. Seems pointless to have a nice graphics card that just goes to waste. 1080p HD video and simple 3d gaming are important to me. I've been back and forth with different distros over the last few days trying to get this to work; but honestly, I want Arch on this netbook if at all possible. The one thing I haven't tried is installing the driver and utils with the installer straight from the ati website- and so, I'm reinstalling Arch as I type this and I will try that next. It has occured to me that maybe the fglrx driver in the repo and aur aren't the same as the c-50 driver offered on their site. So far, trying to get a functioning *nix system on this netbook has been a pain in the neck. If I ever finish a functioning system though, I plan to document it well so that other's won't have to deal with the crap that I am.

I have a netbook (ASUS 1201T) with ATI Radeon HD3200 and, luckly, I have 3D and TV-OUT 720p (my TV doesn't support 1080p) with opensource drivers. I had more problems with the lovely catalistys drivers.

catalyst 11.9 is online, although strange thing:
the URL of the driver has changed - was: ati-driver-installer-11-8-x86.x86_64.run , is ati-driver-installer-11.9.x86.x86_64.run, i actually found this 11.9 driver because of misstype LOL
i was expecting better GNOME3 support, but it looks like only rainbow bar was fixed, other problems like slow windows moving stayed
AUR has been updated, except catalyst-total which i will update after removing powerXpress support (im unable to fix it )
Edit: i've tested it on xorg-server 1.11.1 from [testing] but it's not working , so if you will see that fresh xorg-server 1.11.x landed in [core] use [xorg110] repo:

The official AMD-website still points me to 11-9.

But it's a dead link...
Usually changes on AMD's site are the latest, and usually fresh catalyst was available for download before site has been updated and before catalyst managers had wrote about that fact on twitter... Since both site and managers are talking about new version i believe that i misstyped well and this 11.9 is an official version (unfortunatelly).
Till now i've been waiting with repo update, but i guess the time has come (aspecially that soon i need to go asleep)...
Edit: repo has been updated

Removing catalyst's repo archives from [catalyst-10.9] up to [catalyst-11.3]
I'm planning to remove mentioned archived repositories within a week, if someone is still using them please write it here.

looks like amd has fixed link, so now also 11-9 is available for download, although it's the same as 11.9
BTW: looks like amd has fixed many problems with ie. AMD E-350 APU support in 11.9:

@atanas: Thanks

Darn, I started to have some god damned atomic [bomberman ] bug
I use KDE 4.7.1, Lenovo T500 with Mobility 3650.
Without compositing - no bug, compositing on - when I move ANY window it bails out with this bug, if I do not move window or touch heading I'm safe...
---------------------
BUG: scheduling while atomic: X/2212/0x00000002
---------------------
Pattern is always X/some number/0x00000002
Did not have any problems with catalyst before, this seems very odd, anyone else have this?

Kirugs, I got the same error message on my laptop (Mobility Radeon HD 5470) running Compiz standalone, when opening Firefox or any Mozilla-related application. It always made X hang for me.
Will see if that bug is still there on 11.9 (I was using 11.8 at the time)
EDIT: Still there!

I use KDE 4.7.1 too, with an HD3850 and had the same bug after updating from 11.08 to 11.09.
I got it fixed by removing the driver again, deleting the "/etc/ati" directory and reinstalling catalyst 11.09 ...

Didn't help for me, still the same...

Is somebody working on the ATi opensource drivers? I have an Radeon X1200, so I kind of need them. Any advice for improving performance with my card?

So this bug is caused by a specific option.
Same problem (radeon hd 3450 / kde 4.7.1), X crash when I disable the graphic effects of Kwin.
Here is my dmesg.
