[solved] "Official" way to incorporate dircolors?

I've seen a few "preferred" way of setting dircolors (color settings for ls --color).  Is there a more-or-less standard "Arch way" to do this?

No, because it's not Arch-specific. Pick the method that suits you best.

Ahh, dircolors is an executable   This all makes a lot more sense now.  Thanks!
