how do I remove the woes of switch2?

hi, i've intalled the package gtk2-theme-switch (aka switch2), which is supposed to switch the GTK theme in any session, and used it a bit for fluxbox. the problem is that now I can't set the gtk theme via gnome prerences (changing of the theme does nothing except for changing fonts and control placement, the way the controls look stays the same). now the only way to switch the GTK theme is via switch2.
