"triggering uevents" hangs occasionally
I installed catalyst 11.8-1 for my integrated 880G chipset, and it worked - but I didn't like the way it forced me to give up KMS, and sometimes it would hang at boot with "Triggering uevents". So I uninstalled it. But it still doesn't solve the problem! Occasionally it won't hang at "triggering uevents", but most of the time it does.
I looked in /lib/udev, didn't see anything related to fglrx. /etc/udev/rules.d is empty, and udev.conf only has udev_log="err". How do I start troubleshooting this hang?

Maybe it is related to the issues some had when one of the recent upgrades to udev happened. I know for me my wireless card caused the issues but would spit a warning when it killed the process to continue on boot. I still see it sometimes after a kernel change and generally running mkinitcpio on the kernel will do the trick. I did also have to add my wireless card into the modules array in rc.conf.

A friend told me that it could have been a hardware device that create a interrupt storm. Im not familiar with this, but it seems it comes from the hardware.
If this can help the next one who get the problem...
