Netinstall fails with missing dependency

Because I was having problems after the 3.2 upgrade, I decided to do a fresh install using the 2011.08.19 Netinstall disc.  Everything went fine until it tried to download the files.  I get a message:

Cannot resolve "libffi", a dependency of "glib2" missing

If anyone can offer advice, I'd really appreciate it!

Re: Netinstall fails with missing dependency

Please get a fresh mirrorlist http://www.archlinux.org/mirrorlist/ and try again. Try changing mirrors.
The package is there http://www.archlinux.org/packages/?sort … =&limit=50

Re: Netinstall fails with missing dependency

Thanks for responding!

I tried two locations from the disc, and manually entered another from the link you provided.  Unfortunately all three give the same message.

I can't even imagine how to download the "libffi" using the netinstall disc.  Any suggestions?

Re: Netinstall fails with missing dependency

libffi needs to be moved in core because the installer only syncs core repository

Should I open a bug report?

Re: Netinstall fails with missing dependency

Still getting same error. What do I need to do to resolve this locally?

If wonder is right, you just need to wait until the mirrors sync.

Install only the base packages and when you have Arch installed you can download all the packages you want.

Re: Netinstall fails with missing dependency

That's what I thought but I'm just installing base packages and it's still failing. I'll be patient and continue to try. Should archlinux FTP be the first to update?

What's the error? If you're not installing glib2, python / python2 etc., libffi shouldn't be needed.

Re: Netinstall fails with missing dependency

The following cannot be upgraded due to unresolvable dependencies:
cryptsetup device-mapper gettext initscripts linux lvm2 pcmciautils syslog-ng udev

Ah, gettext depends on glib2.

Was there a rule that said packages in base should have dependencies in base group too?

Re: Netinstall fails with missing dependency

Seems like a base install against archlinux servers is now working. Slow, but working. Thanks for the help. I'll let you know if I run into any other issues.

Re: Netinstall fails with missing dependency

I'm facing the same problem here with the net-install. Everything runs smooth until i reach the step where I have to install the packages, then I receive the same errors you guys mentioned:

warning: Cannot resolve "libffi", a dependency of "glib2"

I tried changing my mirrors and also tried installing only the base packages, but it still not working.

anyone knows how to tackle this issue?

Wait a couple of hours for the mirrors to sync.   Just like the advise a few posts above yours...

Re: Netinstall fails with missing dependency

It's now working for me as well!

I gave up last night after trying at least a dozen different locations.  This morning it worked like a charm.  At least I had a reason to get 'loaded'!

Thanks for all who tried helping!!
