Hi all,
I'm running networkmanager, and the ethernet connects fine after the computer boots, or if I connect the cable for the first time. However, if I pull out the cable, and put it back in, the ethernet will not reconnect. Dhcpcd and dhclient don't work either, as well as restarting networkmanager after bringing the eth0 down, then up. The odd thing is that if I disconnect the connection, but not physicall remove the cable, the ethernet can still reconnect... any ideas?

I've had good experiences with the "wicd" and "wicd-gtk" package. Just install and add "wicd" to the list of DAEMONS in /etc/rc.conf and start wicd-gtk after you've logged in. I recommend to remove and/or disable networkmanager if you install wicd.

I removed network manager for wicd a LONG time ago.
The sheer amount of problems it fixes is amazing.
