Quick question about uvesafb

On my main box I've got an nvidia GTX460 and I use the proprietary driver because I game and run some cuda applications that don't work with the open source drivers.

Now onto my question: Can I use uvesafb and the proprietary drivers at the same time? And by that I mean, can I have a nice hi res terminal and boot process while still being able to run my games and cuda apps in X? Is it possible to switch drivers like that?

Re: Quick question about uvesafb

Yes, that's the *only* way to have a high-res console with the proprietary X driver. Well, ok, vesafb works too.

There's just one problem. The resolution you want may or may not be in the vbios of the graphic card. You can only use resolutions that are in the vbios. If the one you want isn't in there, you're pretty much screwed.

Re: Quick question about uvesafb

Ah okay, so the install process is exactly as it is on the wiki? I don't need to do anything to get the drivers to work together?

Awesome, I'll give it a shot. Even if I don't get the full resolution I should get something better than 800x600 :x

I didn't know this was possible.

Are you talking about the Uvesafb wiki page?  I'd like to try this myself.

But whether the Constitution really be one thing, or another, this much is certain - that it has either authorized such a government as we have had, or has been powerless to prevent it. In either case, it is unfit to exist.
