Remounting root read/write fail

During startup when the boot screen is giving messages, I get a Fail message at

Remounting root read/write 

I've rebooted several times and always get the same message.  Nevertheless, the system finishes booting and everything seems normal.  Just don't know why I'm getting this new message at boot time now or what I can do to resolve it.
