Kernel downgrade

Howdie,

as it appears there is a problem with wine / World of Warcraft / kernel 2.6.33+ I would like to downgrade my system to a 2.6.32 kernel. Now, I am a rather sad newbie in the world of kernel-ing when it comes to arch, and the wiki seemed to imply that I would have to manually compile what I need.

Is there a somewhat "softer" route than that?

Re: Kernel downgrade

If  you haven't gotten rid of your pacman pkg, then you can simply do a

sudo pacman -U /var/cache/pacman/pkg/pacman-3.3.x-x86_64.pkg.tar.gz

Re: Kernel downgrade

Have a look here.

btw, Inxsible meant to refer to the 2.6.32 kernel package, not the 3.3.x pacman package.

Re: Kernel downgrade

Wouldn't it be easier to install kernel26-lts?

Re: Kernel downgrade

Thanks guys, but I find that weird stuff is happening here. Trying to install vcrun2005 via winetricks I get a lot of

on the console. Same on calling winecfg. The wine dir is set with ownership to the user I am doing this with, so I have no idea why this happens. It does also mean I can not do much in configuring wine because winecfg crashes with every other click.

Yes I did. I had just read a thread about pacman downgrade...and that was what was in my mind. Also it was 1 am in the night wink
