I put my microsd card into an SD adapter which is then inserted into a usb key (my desktop doesn't have a built in card reader)
However, the system sees that a drive is connected, but doesn't see the partition on it. Here's fdisk -l

so it sees sdb (thats the only external drive connected at the moment), but it doesn't see any partitions sdb1 etc. and there is data on the drive but probably formatted according to my phone since the microsd came from the phone.
Is there anyway I can transfer data from the card to the system? windows sees the card properly, so I am assuming Linux should as well.

I really have nothing to add here ....so bump?

Maybe the card is formatted as exFAT? Try formatting it as (v)fat.

Ok. Will check that out. but how do I find out if its exFAT? Windows (IIRC) doesn't mention the file system as exFAT though.

That wouldn't be applicable to me since I have connected the microsd into an SD adapter which itself is in a usb key.
I do not have a sd card reader directly into my machine

Some fancy ones might need drivers. What have you got - Kingston MobileLite?

The card itself is a Nokia microsd. Atleast it says Nokia, who knows who the original manufacturer is. As for the usb key adapter for sd cards, its a Zeikos sd/mmc high speed

What happens if you try to mount it? Are other cards working w/ that card reader?

What do I mount? there is no sdbx at all or atleast Arch doesn't see it.
And no, I have tried 3 different cards...They all get recognized as a new drive, but none of them show any partitions (sdX?)
