Hey Everyone,
I currently have one of my HTPC 's booting via PXE off my main PC. This setup has been working great so I have decided to setup a 2nd HTPC with basically identical hardware(less RAM and slightly different motherboard, same cpu and vid chipsets though) and am wondering what the best way to proceed is to boot both machines using PXE. I basically followed the wiki for my initial setup.
Can both machines use the same setup? It seems redundant and a waste of disk space to copy the whole install when it will be pretty much identical. These are both going to be running XBMC, there could be instances where both may be in use at the same time but not too often. The only problem I have thought of so far is if I want to have different remote layouts, different skins etc. but I think this could be solved by having different users on the two machines. So one machine one I could have user htpc1 and machine 2 htpc2 and they would both get separate home dirs and .xbmc folders which I think would solve the config issues. However I like to have the machine auto login so that there is no user intervention needed other than hitting the power button. Is there a way to have an autologin script of some sort that can choose the user based on something like the MAC address on the network port being used?
Any insight would be appreciated.
