Volume control controlling wrong device?

Hey all,

I'm just coming back to Archlinux after a year on Ubuntu (new laptop, didn't have any time to configure Archlinux, so my only option was Ubuntu). I've finally decided to install Archlinux (and let me say, it feels great to be back, I've really missed pacman...).

Anyway, my issue is with my keyboard's volume control keys... It doesn't seem to be controlling the right sound device, because when I press volume up/down on my keyboard, the OSD window that appears (which tells me the current volume as I adjust it) doesn't move, the volume appears stuck at 0%.

Sound does work, and the mixer works fine for adjusting the volume... but I'm sort of a perfectionist (hence Archlinux ) and I'd like my keyboard's volume control buttons to work... I've searched Google, the wiki, forums, etc but can't find anything...

I should say, I'm on GNOME.

You need to configure it to use PCM instead of Master. Be careful, it can get really loud.
