I have just learned through the vines of irc, that gaim does irc. Its amazing! I can finally join the archlinux channel and talk using aim at the same time! with 1 program! i hope i win an award for this major break through! surely windoze users will convert now that are aware of this amazing discovery. if only arch would support cpip (http://news.com.com/2100-1001-257064.html)

You didn't discover shit, I told you about in IRC.
I've known about that since the gtk1 days, irssi owns it though.

BitchX
the ONLY IRC client
here in Arch it is known as ircii-pana (it's an IRCII clone, that's II as in the roman numeral two) in repositories,
but BitchX on your hard disk,
and the "Scourge of the High Seas" on freenode
or maybe not
but I'm still a pirate, and the *AAs can lick my corroded cathodes
but seriously though, if you want one process, find somebody with a good jabber server that has an IRC transport
maybe soon I'll even get around to getting some good CLI jabber clients packaged up, and then maybe you can have one via pacman

syamajala, I'm just like you I suppose. I rarely use gaim, and I've spent more time checking the "Presidential Election Campaign Fund" box on my tax form than I have used IRC.
Every time I fire up gaim, I get about 10 conversations hitting me at once. It's confusing as hell, so I rarely use it. If I'm looking for ways to punish myself, I'll try out that IRC option thingy you talk about.

I tried it, and indeed it is masochism at its finest. Especially considering the time I joined the #archlinux channel, there was an obscure discussion raging about sexual preference in relation to distrobution choice..or something. Thankfully I appeared to have missed most of it..

IRC really is alot more fun when you realize it's fun to piss others off.
