[SOLVED] Desktop Application for my WM

I use Awesome WM and it's a great window manager but because it's only a window manager, I'm missing out on a desktop. Are there any applications I can install that will run a desktop in the background like below the window manager, where I can put files and/or shortcuts so that when I don't have any windows open I can see the desktop? Thanks in advance, if you need any clarification, just ask smile

ROX, PCManFM, and Nautilus profide that functionality. I'm sure there are others.

I haven't yet decided if I prefer a desktop or no-desktop in my UI. I really liked my time using Window Maker without a desktop, but at the same time I like having a static place to "throw" files I'm currently working on.

How would I use PCManFM for example to do that? I can't seem to find the options for that.
Edit: Nevermind, I found the minus desktop option.
