Avant-Window-Navigator and Nautilus in LXDE

I need some help using AWN on LXDE. Every time I start it, there is a grey box around it. The applets for shutting down/suspend/logout do not work. I can still use the "lxsession-logout" command, but I would like to have an applet to do it. Also, does anyone know how to completely switch from pcmanfm to nautilus? All the buttons point to the file manager take me to pcmanfm. Thanks.

it seems that you are trying to gnome-mify your LXDE installation considering you had another thread where you wanted to replace openbox within LXDE with compiz. It would just be easier for you to install gnome and get rid of LXDE. installing nautilus would have brought down pretty much all of gnome anyway.

just a thought.

Back on topic - I think you will have to change the commands in the applet to invoke lxsession-logout instead of whatever it is currently for gnome.

I know I probably should switch gnome, but LXDE is still faster even if I add applications for gnome. The applet I want to use is called quit. I looked at the quit.py file, but I didn't know where to edit it. Thanks for the reply.

The grey box is probably due to the fact that you have no composite manager running (I don't think LXDE has one by default), so try installing/running one of the ones listed at the bottom of this wiki entry.

Xcompmgr is probably the easiest.

XFCE is about the same speed of LXDE and easier to gnomefy...

I forgot about that. I am planning on using compiz, so it should work when I get compiz working.

None of this is working. I think I messed something up when I removed pcmanfm. I will just switch to GNOME. I might try this again later.

pcmanfm manages desktop wallpapers and desktop icons.

Is there a way to get nautilus to manage the desktop wallpapers/icons? I know it does in GNOME.

Why do you like nautilus so much? pcmanfm is so much lighter. And no, some gnome-appearance settings thing manages that in gnome.

I used to like pcmanfm, but it got weird after a new version. I couldn't find the option to create new folders/documents and sorting the folders doesn't work. I don't need lightweight on my computer.

I didn't think of checking the AUR, but I switched to GNOME.
