1)

# ntpdate us.pool.ntp.org
26 Aug 22:20:51 ntpdate[7427]: no server suitable for synchronization found

What the heck is happening here? I can ping us.pool.ntp.org but it wont adjust my clock. Using ntpd doesn't help either - the sucker keep using UTC.

2)
I have a bad regression with any 2.6.35-kernel on my gateway netbook. After a very short time of booting, I lose keyboard and mouse completely. Sometimes I'm lucky and manage to log in before it happens, but I still have never managed to do a 'startx'. If I wait before logging in, then I lose it again and cant even log in.
kernel 2.6.34 works just fine.

Does any1 have any ideas about what's going on?

Sorry about that. I just got a little angry.

Anyway, on to the actual questions:
1) What port do you have ntp assigned to use? I have seen occasions where you need to allow that port through your firewall to get it to work.
2) Are you using hal? What input drivers are you using?

*chuckles* I'll 2nd the apology - suffering from the same malady myself!!

So back to ntp ...
First a little 'history': I have about 3 computers at home - all 'up-to-date' and no special 'effects' (as such - ie. I have not done anything special, using default values). ntpdate _used_ to work perfectly until the above problem which started about 2-3 weeks ago. I thought it was a 'temporary' lapse, but by now it has started to annoy me. All computers at home have the same problem - and at work (where I also have about 3 arch-computers - there is no problem. The big difference - at home I have no firewall, at work I do!!! *lol*
And of course, as I am writing this, obviously (I hope) what must have happened is that my ISP has closed (or firewalled) those default ports that deal with ntp ... (from /etc/services)
Infact - I just tried it from one computer that is using mint - and the same problem there!
Conclusion - it must be my ISP - friggin' Hughes-net!!!

I guess that must be the explanation - sorry for taking yall's time with something I should've thought of myself.

So - that leaves the missing keyboard on a gateway netbook with kernel 2.6.35 while 2.6.34 is OK.
Of all my arch-computers, all of which uses 2.6.35 by now, only the netbook has this problem.

Actually, I have just used tkdiff on the two boot-sequences for the two kernels (2.6.34 and 2.6.35) (using /var/log/messages.log)
There is nothing obvious there, and any reference to the keyboard and/or mouse are exactly the same ... :-(
