I've never been able to set the time and date automatically in KDE time settings. When I check the "Set time and date automatically" and authenticate myself, I always get the error message "Unable to contact time server: .". I'm wondering whether it's an upstream bug or I'm missing some required package? Does it work for you?

Yeah never worked for me either...
I just use ntpd (or openntpd). It same thing, just that it works .
You could ask it in KDE forums, but I think I mentioned once and nobody know what could be wrong.
(it also didn't work in KDEmod when I used it)

I just installed ntp from [extra]. Works for me

I just found out that removing ntpd (or openntpd) from DAEMONS array in rc.conf actually makes this work. !?!?

I don't have ntpd or openntpd installed and therefore not in my rc.conf and it doesn't work.

check all servers option, for me, only pool.ntp.org is working, even if I am in Europe right now

I think you should have ntp or openntp installed, just not started as a system-wide daemon.

I don't get it i have installed ntpd using pacman -S ntp . And then after it installed I restarted my computer and i still can't change the time to London and am still getting the "Unable to contact time server" error. Am i misinterpreting this or what? Could somone please explain to me in simple terms how to make the KDE clock show London time?

There's no such thing as a stupid question, but there sure are a lot of inquisitive idiots !

Have you set ntp correctly?
Also go to http://www.pool.ntp.org/en/use.html you'll have all the answers there.
in short try this:
ntpq -p
If nothing happens you did something wrong, if it does, then it already works just remove ntpd or openntpd from daemon array.
