[SOLVED] VMPlayer doesn't feel it needs to start...

Well, after applying a whole bunch of obscure patches, I finally got VMPlayer 3.1.1 to install and to compile against the kernel.

Now it won't start... and I have no idea where to go from here.

Here is the output of trying to start 'vmplayer' from the console:

Could this have something to do with the '/desktop/gnome/interface/compatibility' thing there? I'm using Xfce4 as my UI if it matters.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Re: [SOLVED] VMPlayer doesn't feel it needs to start...

I fixed it smile

Turned out the problem was that the HAL daemon was not running for some reason. I fixed this by adding it to the startup daemons in /etc/rc.conf.

After that I was having a problem with VMPlayer randomly closing as soon as it opened. I fixed that by updating to VMPlayer Version 3.1.1, and now everything is working perfectly.

SOLVED!

sputnick, the thread was already solved by the OP back in 2010. Your solution might help others. So thank you.

Maybe the mods/admins missed the necrobump by noisegroundbr. Rectifying that now.
