Hello!
has anyone succeeded using the N900 or maybe any other phone with the networkmanager in KDE? There seem to be a couple of problems. Sometimes I enter date in the mobile broadband tab and cannot see it in the applet no matter how many configurations I create.
If I succeed to have a configuration and click on connect, it does something but doesn't get an IP address.
On the other hand I can use the phone with wvdial. Here is the config:
[Dialer Defaults]
Init2 = ATZ
Init3 = ATE0V1&D2&C1S0=0+IFC=2,2
Stupid Mode = 1
Modem TYPE = Analog Modem
ISDN = 0
Phone = *99#
Init5 = AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","data.tre.se";
Modem = /dev/ttyACM0
username = user
Dial Command = ATDT
password = pass
Baud = 460800
It is a Swedish provider. I got the information from the ubuntu forums.
Additionally, have these packages installed:
extra/mobile-broadband-provider-info 20100510-1 (nothing seems to read the file though)
extra/modemmanager 0.4-1
extra/networkmanager 0.8.1-1
and the latest KDE
Here are some parts of the log from Networkmanager:

I would look at the below links they should provide enough info and different ways of tethering the N900 for4 you to get it up and running. I don't use KDE, but I have gotten my friends to work via hotspot and usb...
I love this phone and would so totally buy one except I am waiting for the N9 to see if I be better off waiting for that

Sorry for the late reply. Thanks for the links. The solution with the wlan access point is really nice and easy.
