WiFi Auto Search & Connect

Hi there. I want to know if there is any possibility of make my laptop auto connect to any open wireless network in range. I have netcfg's net-auto-wireless, but it only connects if the network SSID already exists in a profile. Is there any way to have a daemon to do something similar, but without the need to interact manually?

The purpuse of this, is an anti-theft thing. Let's suppouse my laptop is stolen by someone. That person, will obviously boot the laptop somewhen, and when he/she does, there are good chances of having some open wireless networks in range. The laptop would connect to any of them, check internet connection, and then start, e.g: sending photos of the webcam via email.

Sorry for my english, and thanks for any idea!

Re: WiFi Auto Search & Connect

Have a look at prey-tracker in the aur.
It will find any available networks and try to connect to them if your laptop is stolen, taking screenshots, system info etc.
