ssmtp and http user permissions

I've got ssmtp set-up to send email via gmail.  /etc/ssmtp/ssmtp.conf is chmod 600 as per the wiki because it contains my plain text gmail password

Obvious problem, only root can read it.  That means the web server (user: http) can't read it to send emails.

So, what's the "best" thing to do?  Maybe change the group of ssmtp.conf to mail and add http to mail group then chmod 640?

.:edited:.

Obviously wasn't clear the web server is sending the mail, not me.

Re: ssmtp and http user permissions
