Does anyone have a working installation of neatx?

I've previously used the free version of nomachine on my workstations but due to the 2 user limit I've decided to give neatx (the NX implementation started by Google) a try. I've successfully installed it on our Ubuntu boxes but I'm having some trouble getting it to work on Arch.

I installed it from 'community', but when I try to access the machine I get the following message:

NX> 500 Error: Session u'363E85741A3851AA10BB59D746C7262E' has status u'terminated',

I've done some googling and tried a few things such as what is suggested in comment 45 in the following thread: http://code.google.com/p/neatx/issues/detail?id=4 but so far I haven't got it working.

So I'm curious: Have other people had similar troubles or was it easy getting it working?

Don't bother with neatx, better use FreeNX - http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/FreeNX

Last time I checked out FreeNX it didn't have support for session shadowing. Has this changed?

Yes, but then if its known that neatx has problems shouldn't it be in the testing repository?

Re: Does anyone have a working installation of neatx?

heya,

I'm getting a similar issue. I installed neatx 0.3.1 from community, and setup sshd as well.

I can confirm that I can connect fine to the box via SSH (after editing /etc/hosts.allow).

When I try to connect with the NoMachine NX Client, I get:

NX> 203 NXSSH running with pid: 11396
NX> 285 Enabling check on switch command
NX> 285 Enabling skip of SSH config files

I remember installing neatx to be a fairly seamless affair under Debian/Ubuntu - and it was much better than FreeNX (performance and feature-wise).

Would anybody happen to know what issue might be causing this "Session has status terminated" error?

Cheers,
Victor
