I have had this odd problem for a couple of days now. I am not sure if this the OS or my router or something else that is doing this to me.
1. I have a DSL connection at home used via a modem wireless router combination.
2. I have been using the my wireless card - Intel® WiFi Link 5300 agn. (network card = RTL8111/8168B PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet controller)
3. Since last 3 days, I have been unable to connect to my home wifi or be able to see any wireless connections (from my neighbours)
4. I can connect and use wireless internet flawlessly when out of my apartment (not in my apartment building - this leads me to believe my hardware is ok)
5. Other users can access the wifi. (using their laptops/ipads/ipod/phones)
6. I can access my internet over an ethernet cable
7. I have the same problem with either windows7 or arch (dual boot)
any thoughts/possible diagnosis?
I have already done the following:
1. reset every setting on my router to factory defaults and setup a new access point.
2. reset my arch/windows settings and changed my host name
3. Try using iwconfig instead of my default wicd.
Thanks.

So after ignoring this problem for about 20 days, it has disappeared!
Why this happened is still a mystery.
