Offline web browsing with polipo proxy server.

I want to use polipo to very easily go to webpages that I've already seen offline.  It works well in offline mode for most sites, but for some reason some sites have to reload at least some (I think it's only the text elements, but it's enough to make it unviewable without internet conection).  A prime example of sites that don't appear to cache properly is all of the arch linux webpages.  Forums, wiki, etc. cannot be loaded from the cache.  I don't think the issue is with firefox, although I was having other sites that didn't load when I hadn't disabled the firefox cache.  I've tried this with several browsers, and they all seem to work the same.  So, basically what I'd like is to be able to do everything offline that I've already done online.  I don't need to use polipo, but it seemed like it was the best choice.
Thanks!

Re: Offline web browsing with polipo proxy server.

This is probably https web pages that don't get cached... Maybe there's some option in polipo to override this.

Re: Offline web browsing with polipo proxy server.

That makes sense, I've not noticed any https pages that have been cached completely, but I've noticed some regular http pages that behave the same way.  Any idea what the preference would be?  On the polipo manual, it says default behavior is to allow ssh, HTTP, https, rsync, IMAP, imaps, POP, pops, Jabber, CVS and Git traffic.  It says it tunnels these without understanding them(http://www.pps.jussieu.fr/~jch/software/polipo/polipo.html#Tunnelling-connections).  Does this mean that it doesn't cache them?

I really don't know anything about polipo. Section 4 of the manual contains a few options that you might want to change... You could also try a Firefox extension like BetterCache (its description also contains a few hints, I think!)

Re: Offline web browsing with polipo proxy server.

I've tried BetterCache, but I'd like something that won't clear the cache unless I say so (if firefox crashes, there goes my cache.  Also clears cache sometimes after updates).  Thanks for trying to help though.
