[SOLVED]GeForce GT 330M problem: (EE) No devices detected.

Hi!

After installing arch on my new laptop, installing xorg, kde, nvidia, nvidia-utils and running nvidia-xconfig, i get a following error while running xinit:

(EE) No devices detected.

Fatal server error:
no screens found

My graphics card is GeForce GT 330M.

How can I solve this problem? Thanks in advance.

Try starting without xorg.conf - it is no longer required

Re: [SOLVED]GeForce GT 330M problem: (EE) No devices detected.

I have a i3-350M CPU, which seems to have some kind of integrated graphics.
I rebooted after installation of nvidia driver.

After removing xorg.conf, vesa driver gets loaded and i'm stuck with 1024x768 resolution.

Re: [SOLVED]GeForce GT 330M problem: (EE) No devices detected.

Thanks,
resolution is now 1366x768, as it should be.

But does that mean that i'm stuck with my integrated graphics for the rest of my life? .(

I wouldn't know about "the rest of my life", but for now you can't use the nvidia card. Follow this site to see what's going on regarding hybrid graphics and Linux: http://linux-hybrid-graphics.blogspot.com/

Re: [SOLVED]GeForce GT 330M problem: (EE) No devices detected.

The solution is listed in post # 5 with some additional info in post # 7. It might not be the solution you want, but that's the only thing available.

Hi Cyclope
I'm having the same problem with my Dell Vostro 3500, I'm trying to figure out how to do it, and someone has done it already... Have a look at https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 14#p883214.
