I no longer have the cd dvd and fl folders under my /media.
I do not know which update borked it but at first I thought it would only show up once a cd or dvd was put in the drive. But no, even after putting a CD in or a floppy in, I still don't get the folders. Now I have no way of accessing the media.
Can someone confirm if they still have those folders under /media? If not, then I probably need to create some udev rules, but if you do have the folders, then maybe its something else that is wrong with my system.

MIne's empty too. However, when I popped in a cd, a folder with the cd name got created.

Same here...
But when I mount CD or whatever I get the folder with it's name and not CD or DVD or whatever...
I don't know about you, but I'm using KDE and had problems with HAL and mounting because of these missing folders.

ok. So I am not the only one. But now I gotta figure out why the folders won't appear even when I pop in a CD....
I don't use HAL and nor any file browser. I simply use the CLI . Gotta look into some udev rules i bet.

If you don't use HAL or any similar form of automounting, you can just (re-)create those mountpoints yourself. I have some udev rules for mounting but on my laptop and desktop mounting is done through HAL, and it uses the pre-set folders I specified.
