Spotify & Pulseaudio

So I'm totally addicted to Spotify and I started using it on Archlinux. I installed it through yaourt, which also requires the pulseaudio package. Now everytime I start Spotify it starts using Pulseaudio. I have to stop the daemon like:
# /etc/rc.d/pulseaudio stop
After this spotify falls back to ALSA and I can listen to my awesome playlists. I have tried to fix it to add !pulseaudio to the daemons in /etc/rc.conf, but this doesn't have any effect. Now I've read (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pu … ide_daemon) that pulseaudio doesn't run system wide. So how do I stop PulseAudio from starting on my linux account? Thanks in advance cool!

Re: Spotify & Pulseaudio

That's a spotify problem, I'm afraid. You should check with their forums/ML or whatever. It MAY be easier for you to just setup and use pulseaudio.

Re: Spotify & Pulseaudio

Try replacing the pulseaudio dependency with a dependency on libpulse. Install the resulting package and then remove pulseaudio.

Re: Spotify & Pulseaudio

Hi,
think we are battling the same thing.

https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=108885

I got it working by adding following to rc.conf

MOD_BLACKLIST=(snd-pcm-oss )

but it does not work perfectly. It still "skips" a bit it the sound
