Hello,
I think my problem is pretty easy. I followed every step in the Installation Guide for Beginners, but I just don't get how I need to set up Internet access. I want to install the full image, there isn't anything to be installed by FTP. But it's necessary to install further software, I know.
But how do I configure Internet Access? The IP Address of this PC is 192.168.178.2, I'll test everything in a virtual machine. The OS I'm currently using is Ubuntu 10.10 x64.

I just don't know what I have to enter where. Internet out of the box isn't possible, is it?
I'm currently in the Configuration menu at the installation.... Please tell me what to do, I just don't understand most parts of the guide.

Just finish the installation and then reboot.
If you are using a dhcp capable router in your network your internet connection should be working already when you logged in.
Otherwise check if your Network card is working and if dhcp doesnt work figure out what IP, gateway and dns etc to use.

Can I leave the configuration files?

Read the Beginner's Guide. Its a good step forward. Make sure you read it in entirety before attempting the installation.
There's no such thing as a stupid question, but there sure are a lot of inquisitive idiots !

Personally, the first time I just left the config files behind except for the root password.
If you have a dhcp router you'll just need to plug it in after reboot and, eventually, launching ifconfig eth0 up and dhcpcd. Just try. but the network configuration in the beginner's guide is not difficult! Just try to read it!
