Hello,
I have been following these two wiki pages, but am not making good headway:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/RubyOnRails
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/RVM
Follwing the RVM page, I have installed rvm as a system-wide installation. Things seem to have gone fine. I installed ruby 1.8.7 and ruby 1.9.2. But, maybe I am missing something, because everytime I log off as root, then log back on, it shows that I have NO ruby environment installed. That is, if I run ruby --version, I get "ruby command not found"
So, if I run "rvm 1.8.7" then run "ruby --version" it tells me I have ruby 1.8.7 installed. Do I need to do this every time I log off as root? That doesn't seem correct.
This is also true of rails. If I run "rails --version" it tells me gem could not find rails. So, if I run "gem install rails" rails gets installed. But, if I log off as root, then log back on, rails appears to be gone again.
Thanks,
Culley
Edit: fixed it, by following the guide here:
http://rvm.beginrescueend.com/rvm/install/
Also, after doing a full reboot, bash seemed to sort things out both for root and sudo users.
