Alright so I installed Arch ohh say maybe 3 months ago, but up until now I just cannot seem to be able to mount it and actualy like acess my CD'S and whatnot. I just cannot seem to find its mountpoint. I have udev, udisks, and hal installed. Sometimes it will show in certain applications but not in others. I tried mounting it in my fstab using /dev/cdrom0 and a couple other but i just couldn't seem to get it.
When i tyle "dmesg" It does show as
ata2.01: HPA detected: current 625140335, native 625142448
ata2.01: ATA-7: ST3320820AS, 3.AAD, max UDMA/133
ata2.01: 625140335 sectors, multi 16: LBA48 NCQ (depth 0/32)
ata2.01: configured for UDMA/133
scsi 1:0:1:0: Direct-Access ATA ST3320820AS 3.AA PQ: 0 ANSI: 5
Im using KDE.

My /etc/hal/fdi/information folder is empty.

Can you mount it manually via the console?
Are you trying to mount blank disks or AudioCDs?
My /etc/hal/fdi/information folder is empty.
Create the file and see what happens.

When mounting manually you can mount it anywhere you please (you may need to be root to use 'mount' command).
Post what commands are you using and what errors (if any) you're getting.

I'm not sure if I understand it: can you boot your Arch Linux?

Umm Yes, I'm posting this from my Arch Box as we speak. But heres my fstab:
#
# /etc/fstab: static file system information
#
# <file system> <dir> <type> <options> <dump> <pass>
devpts /dev/pts devpts defaults 0 0
shm /dev/shm tmpfs nodev,nosuid 0 0
BOOT /dev/sda3 auto defaults
CDROM /media/6375231a-c17c-464b-92cb-ae9e128d71c3 auto defaults
/dev/sda2 / ext4 defaults 0 1
^me attemping to mount my CD drive.
But for example I type
"Mount" /dev/sda3 and the output is:
mount: special device BOOT does not exist

This looks OK
/dev/sda2 / ext4 defaults 0 1
but entries for BOOT and CDROM do not. How did you create this fstab?
Does
mount /dev/sda3 /foo/bar
work?
Pick any existing directory instead of /foo/bar, e.g. /home/kidfork/boot.

Okay so the mount command worked, But I'm only halfway there, My big thing is after I mount them I want them to show up in Dolphin like when I go to search for a file they all show up in the sidebar like this:
http://img535.imageshack.us/img535/1121/whatiwant.png
But heres what shows up
http://img841.imageshack.us/img841/2294 … nthave.png
And I also noticed that I couldn't mount the CD Drive unless there was a disc present, and some discs would ask for a filesystem type before I could actually mount it. I'm looking for something so like when I pop in a disc I want it to show up on the desktop and whatnot.

Since you are using dolphin I guess you are using kde, how are you starting it? Do you use kdm or startx? If you use startx you need to get dbus involved at your login for the cd to automount
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Dbus
gives what you need in ~/.xinitrc for dbus to be running.
If you are using kdm that is another matter...

You don't mount the CD/DVD drive, you can mount the medium, so the disc *has to* be present.
Unfortunately I know nothing about automounting and KDE so I'm of not much help.

So I think I'v fixed most of my problems, but how would I go about mounting blank media? And When I go into K3B is wont detect my CD drive. But acetone ISO burner reconizes it.

You mean, like, mounting a blank CD? You don't. There's nothing to mount.

I'm trying to get applications to reconize the drive. But am stumped at this point.

If you want to burn something, just put a blank CD into your drive and open the app you use to burn / issue a command to burn.
You can't mount blank disks / AudioCDs as they have no filesystem on them.

The only time k3b hasn't recognised a disk here has been when the disk was a dud, swapping in another disk worked.
