BIND upgrade

Hi,

ISC has released a BIND upgrade on December 1 fixing several particularly critical security issues:
Guidance regarding Dec 1st 2010 Security Advisories

Can the BIND package please be upgraded?  It has been marked as out-of-date for a month now.

Re: BIND upgrade

My best guess to get this fixed fast is to make a patch from the current PKGBUILD to a new one using the new BIND release and log it as a bug in the bugtracker

Not all developers read the forums so it's always best to log a bug if you want to get something fixed.

Scratch that roll

Re: BIND upgrade

OMG....

RobertMe - As already stated clearly at the top of the bugtracker, DO NOT post out-of-date packages as bug reports.

ghen - submitting an updated PKGBUILD to the package maintainer by mail is acceptable. Is it safe to assume you have already built and installed the new release yourself?

Re: BIND upgrade

The diff is trivial (just pkgver and md5sums).  I've already bugged the maintainer twice via e-mail, but got no response...
So I hoped another developer would pick it up from here.

Re: BIND upgrade

OK. You didn't answer specifically, so I'm going to assume you have already built it, installed it, and it works as expected. So the next question is - what difference would its presence in the repos make to you? Clearly it will be updated as some stage, but if you already have it working, that shouldn't concern you. It's flagged, and you have contacted the maintainer, so your "duty" as a responsible user has been fulfilled. Just be patient.
