hi
i want to try arch+kde because i've heard they are a very good couple!
i just installed arch in vbox in win7, and i wanted to download kde in that, then i want to install arch on my laptop and move downloaded kde to that, possible?
i just found out that downloaded packages are in /var/cache/pacman/pkg , so if i copy them to my "real" arch, would they work?
thx

why not just install Arch and kde to the laptop directly ?
There's no such thing as a stupid question, but there sure are a lot of inquisitive idiots !

First, welcome to Arch!
A very good starting point is always the wiki.
Especially look at the Beginners' Guide, it helped me a lot back in the day.

@thelastblack
If both systems use the same architecture then yes, you can just copy the packages from one cache (/var/cache/pacman/pkg) to the other. You can double-check the architecture with
arch
Please use a more informative subject next time.

He probably wants to save bandwidth by not downloading 400+ MB twice for no reason.

about architecture, yes, both are x86 ....
and about bandwidth, it just takes some time to download about 600MB and i dont want to see a black screen while i'm downloading it, so i chose this way...
ok then, thx all, so it is possible....
thx again.....
