I've been playing around with this automounter script which thus far is working well - far better than autofs did. Just thought I'd share it here and see if anyone has any input on using udisks like this. One unanswered question I have is if there is a way to control how udisks names the mount point, aside from using the volume label automatically. I don't think there is, but it's working well as is.
My automounter script is not portable at present, but if you want to work with it a little it has some good potential for highly customizing what happens when devices are added and removed, owing to the fact that udisks seems to be very well designed. The proof is that in a few hours I was able to design and write a script that works more reliably for me than autofs did.

I'll say what I said to the other guy about his auto-mounting script :
There's no such thing as a stupid question, but there sure are a lot of inquisitive idiots !

Currently it's hard wired for my drive letters, but maybe it will give people ideas at least. At some point I may rewrite it in a more generic way once I've tried it out for awhile. And I'll take a look at udisksvm. Looks like that script has a better way of doing the monitoring.
