I have the problem that my Networking via networkmanager is not working anymore since 4.6 update.
I created a testuser with the same permissions and groups as I have and there it worked without problems, so I think this is some permission related problem...
If I install network-manager-applet (the GNOME nm-tray application) and try to connect, everything works. If I use kdeplasma-applets-networkmanager it doesn't.
This is the output of /var/log/daemon.log:

I also tried:
find ~/.kde4/ -iname *wallet* -exec rm -rfv {} \; # Because I thought it had something to do with the kwallet system.
find ~/.kde4/ -iname *network* -exec rm -rfv {} \;
sudo rm -rfv /etc/Netwo*
sudo rm -rfv /var/lib/Netw*
...and then reinstalled all of the packages (networkmanager-* kdeplasma-applets-networkmanager). I also tried logging in and out.
My DAEMONS Array is this:

I have same problem with netwrokmanager after update KDE to 4.6. User added to netorkmanager group. DBUS started.
After system start sometimes connect success, but kdeplasma-applets-networkmanager don't save password of wireless.

There's no such thing as a stupid question, but there sure are a lot of inquisitive idiots !

I have the same problem, i can connect only if i disable saving password option, and inserting wpa2 password manually every time. I have search in forum but i haven't find anything related to this problem.
Like you i have removed hal, dbus was already present. I have deleted networkmanager config files's and re-installed networkmanager and kdeplasma-applets-networkmanagement but nothing have solved my problem. With wicd all work good.

I did. I posted in another thread but later edited my post there and opened this new thread, because the old one had "solved" in its title and it is not yet solved for me. Thanks.

wicd works good. I was quite satisfied wicd-client-kde and wicd-nogtk. Unknown when fix bug netwrokmanager-applet.

Yes, I also switched to another solution: I am using network-manager-applet for the time being...
Still: It sucks... in 4.4, kdeplasma-applets-networkmanager was a pest and unusable (I also used the GNOME nm-applet at that time), in 4.5 it worked so good, it was a dream. Now in 4.6 it's a pest to use again...

I also have this problem. I do not use KWallet to store my wireless keys. This is the KDE bug.
I have added a 'system' connection for my wireless network in /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections
It looks like this (chmod 600 the file):
[connection]
id=<justaname>
uuid=1234
type=802-11-wireless
[802-11-wireless]
ssid=<myssid>
security=802-11-wireless-security
[ipv4]
method=auto
[802-11-wireless-security]
key-mgmt=wpa-psk
psk=<mywirelesskey>

Well, but nevertheless it should work with kwallet? But it does not work, even with kwallet. That's another (and my main) problem.

My problem is ... similiar, but not exactly correct. Searching around shows nothing like this I found. This is new to KDE 4.6. The network manager widget will actually work fine with wifi, it saves and works just fine. But VPN is utterly broken, and cannot be worked around AFAIK (ie, I can't enter passwords manually or anything). It errors out with the "no VPN secrets!" error (which I find to be a very common error with networkmanager...) -- so when I look, it doesn't save the VPN password. It saves the username and the rest of the settings just fine. Leaving it blank it won't ask me for a password, just dumps the same nonsense error. Leaving both username and password blank it doesn't prompt me either, which is incredibly poor behavior really.
Its already known that KDE 4.6 can't store unencrypted data, so, that doesn't work as expected (and it breaks wifi, but as I said thats already known).
Love to see a solution to this, I use VPN's a lot at work
EDIT: I randomly had the above problem, using kwallet. I deleted my kwallet and nm config files from .kde4 and re-created them after the 4.6 upgrade and that seemed to fix it. The whole KDE 4.6 upgrade seemed really shakey and bizarre, it ended up ok but it took a few login/logouts before things started working properly. I tried that again with VPN and it didn't fix it. So, something properly broke...

Check this out: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/22659 The last comment describes a workaround.
I removed hal from the daemon array and now VPN doesn't work. With hal it works.
A simple, lightweight distribution - Why the hell 'simple' ? It doesn't sound geekish -.-"

Here, since i fix my kwalletd issue (was not launched, all is ok).
And you can use kwallet and store as plain text, just enter en empty password...

Modify the values of "VpnSecrets" in Kwalletmanager? I tried, but it did not
work at all.

Tried everything mentioned in this thread (again): Still not working

I got tired of this and started using wicd-client-kde. It is not as fancy, but at least it doesn't require me to click OK a zillion times a day. And works with hidden networks, which knetworkmanager didn't. I hope they'll fix it soon tho, i liked it.
