Here we go again: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=90964
Once in a year my simple questions are
:
1. What about split applications?
2. There is any way to put Java depence to optional?
LibreOffice might saved documents to xlxs and docx, so I want use it in future, but installing Java doesn't coincides with KISS principle, as I think.
Thanks!

Last time I asked about split packages for OpenOffice I was ripped to shreds on the forums. The response was that the packages come from OOo already together, so they won't be split.
Here you can see what OOo components require Java:

Why do you want to use Arch packages? Create a PKGBUILD and selectively remove what you don't need. or use ABS. Arch only provides the vanilla packages from upstream in the official repositories. But Arch also provides ways to customize easily if you want to. installing Java is actually very KISS - simply because upstream requires it and it makes it very easy for Arch devs to simply include it.
There's no such thing as a stupid question, but there sure are a lot of inquisitive idiots !
