lvm2 mirror / hard disk failure

Hi guys.

I need some advice. I have an lvm2 mirror consisting of 2 disks. SMART is reporting that one of them is failing and that I should replace it asap (this is exactly why I have a mirror wink).
I have only recently begun to use lvm on Linux. Previously I was using ZFS on FreeBSD. With ZFS I can check the state of the pool and it will tell me if one disk is "resilvering" or if they are truly mirroring. How can I do this with lvm? I mean, if I 'pvremove' a disk and then add a new one, how do I know they are mirroring/resilvering? Unfortunately so far I am unimpressed with lvm compared to ZFS. It's a shame Oracle now have their grubby hands on it.

I hope I'm making sense here. I have a problem with explaining myself tongue

Re: lvm2 mirror / hard disk failure

I see. So I would just attached the new disk and use pvmove from the old broken disk to the new one?
But if the broken disk has bad sectors then that won't work. Basically I just want to remove the broken one and add a new one to the mirror. But how will I know that the new disk is fully functional?
