Portage or ABS?

Are we going to be using Portage or Pacman from now on?  I always found portage too complicated.

Re: Portage or ABS?

We are going with Portage. pacman is being deprecated.

Re: Portage or ABS?

Portage?  Pacman?  From this day forward, package management is via cant.

Re: Portage or ABS?

I think Canterbury is also following Arch policy of not allowing username changes. I am angling for a moderator job on their forums as well. because after all my moderator status is going to be for nought on arch forums now that there will be no Arch.

Re: Portage or ABS?

Will I still be able to blame Allan when a package breaks?

The new draft of the developer list was just submitted to the Canterbury mailing list and it has Allan's position listed as:

...
Roles: Underlord, Cant Developer, The Main Target
...

"The Main Target" sounds fairly liberal, so I think we can officially blame him for everything now.

Re: Portage or ABS?

In light of cant's obvious limitations I'm announcing a fork: wont - the Package Manager with an Attitude. It will be a drop-in replacement for cant, but much more frustrating.

Messages under consideration:

I could if I wanted to, but...
Not tonight, dear.
Only if you ask nicely.
