Gnome3 interface lag with Empathy+nVidia270.33

Hi guys.

I just finished up a clean netinstall of Arch, have everything working beautifully, however I experience signifigant interface lag during menu transitions in gnome_shell while empathy is active. I am using the drivers acquired thru pacman -S nvidia (270.30)

My question : I never experienced this in Ubuntu Beta 11.04 + NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-270.26 ,however switched to Arch because of a few issues 11.04 still has. One of the major differences (that I see) is that Ubuntu comes installed with all the kernel sources and headers needed to let the nvidia client make its' own driver, howevere Arch relies on the nvidia package or a custom kernel. Is this somehow correlated, or is that thought irrational due to the Arch package being a newer version revision (270.30 as opposed to 270.26)? Also, the nVidia driver from the site is for 64 bit architectures, whereas the Arch package i'm unsure.

My computer has sufficient specifcations for this kind of thing (nVidia GT560ti)

If anyone is in a similiar situation and has time to try making their own drivers from the *.run on the nvidia site, let me know how it goes!

if anyone else has some ideas to throw into the ring, please by all means.

Thanks

its a known problem with nvidia. Have a look at this thread to resolve the issue.

also please create posts in appropriate sub forum. Gnome3 is still in [testing]
