2.6.38 Power regression

Has anyone noticed this too?

http://linux.slashdot.org/story/11/04/2 … Regression

My laptop gets a lot hotter and louder (fan) when running with kernel 2.6.38

Does anyone know how to solve this?

I am on a desktop, and can't really tell if i am facing this too. Over at phoronix, some desktop users also have reported this though.

Since this seems to affect the 2.6.38 series, i guess downgrading should solve the problem for you.

I started searching for it yesterday. But if you search "power regression", you don't get that thread, it seems that you need to search for  "power regressions" with the s.

Thanks, for the link. This thread can be closed.

Google with site:bbs.archlinux.org is normally much better.
