KDE possibility to mimic unity bar

I was wondering if KDE has or could have something that mimic's Ubuntu's new Unity interface (specifically the bar on the side). I'd imagine that Kubuntu would attempt something like this at some point. Thought I'd ask to see if anyone knows anything about this.

Hmm. i guess that's as similar as it guess right now huh? It looks like it's just the taskbar to the left side and a kwin function to get rid of the titlebar. Sigh.

What are you looking for? Unity is just a launcher and task manager.  There are plenty of viable substitutes.

Re: KDE possibility to mimic unity bar

I've given up on unity on arch, but I wonder if anyone knows a suitable replacement. The thing I like most about the unity launcher was that I could press Super to bring up a menu, or Super+# to bring up an application pinned to the launcher. If anyone knows of a dock that can utilize the Super button like that, I'd love to try it~

the best launcher in my opinion is xbindkeys -- just define the keybindings once and you are done.

dmenu is another option which is great. I use it for all apps that I don't have a keybinding for. I have assigned the Alt key to bring up dmenu, but it can easily be changed to be the Super key/
