Hi
I have a strange problem.
I ssh into my parent's server which is behind a router in another country (aka remote). Since some weeks (can not exactly tell when) I have problems with the ssh connection to the remote machine. I start the ssh connection through a terminal window in gnome. After login the connection stalls/freezes/hangs. The only way is to close the terminal on my local machine. If I try to login again I get a "No route to host". I am working on the problem since a week and thought ssh crashed. So the only solution in the past was that my parents logged in the remote machine and restarted the ssh daemon.
Just today I discovered that the solution is even simpler. My parents just have to press a button on the remote machine and I can successfully login again. I am asking myself if there is some sort of "screensaver" on the remote machine which closes down my ssh connection?!
Some background information which might be interesting: I am ssh'ing into the remote machine to copy .ts files from my recorder to my remote computer. All the time I used lftp when the connection stalled. I tried wget and it also stalled. A reproduction with lftp and wget on my local machines leeching an archlinux iso did not cause any issue.
I hope someone has a clue ...
Best regards
Martin
