[SOLVED] if i mark a topic solved

hi all,
if i mark a topic solved im thinking that nobody will comment on it. so if my issue is solved, but i have a couple questions on the end, and would like to discuss it, should i remove the [SOLVED] from it to make sure it happens? or do you find that users still resurrect threads that are solved?

No - please don't "resurrect" solved threads. If the issue is solved - mark it so. If you have separate questions arising from the thread, start a new one.

If, however, you prematurely marked a thread as solved, then it is fine to remove that from the title.

maybe i mis spoke a bit. im not resurrecting a solved thread, but i think what you saying is dont expect my thread to be used if it is marked solved.

its my thread, and i would like more discussion on it, even though my initial question was solved.

two things, if a user has the same question, as the topic, the user will find the answer by reading down to the 2nd reply. therefore it is solved. but at the end of the 2nd reply, i asked if anyone else can elaborate, to see if anybody else has run into these scenarios yet.

therefore, it is solved, but still open to discussion.

2nd thing, im willing to wait a long time for an answer, years if necessary, therefore the thread will never be solved if the criteria in marking it solved is as bland as you mentioned. :0()

If you are referring to this thread https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=120202 then it should be marked as solved.

You are basically asking a completely different question about building packages from source, which has nothing to do with the error in the thread title. Anyone searching on that same error would find everything after post #4 irrelevant.

Also, your second issue doesn't actually need any discussion - you could just read up on pacman, ABS and AUR...

Good on you for solving it yourself. That is the Arch Way.

Marking it solved doesn't preclude anyone else contributing. Someone may stumble along and answer your questions...

And even threads marked [solved] turn up in searches or the like. Unlike other forums (which have built-in filters/searches for 'non-solved' threads), Arch's forums don't depend so much on the tag since its manually added.
