Re: desktop going black randomly

Hi and Welcome!

Your screen went black while installing from the Live CD or while booting from it? You can boot now? If the issue happens while booting, can be that your dont have the appropriate drivers for booting in the KMS mode, which I think is the default today on arch.

First, post your video card info here. Is a nvidia, ati? Or a intel...?

Can you boot Windows and verify if that randomly blackness happen too?

You can try our wiki and other threads on this forum. That issue can happen to a lot of users and some old threads have lots of info.

Re: desktop going black randomly

So, it sounds as if you are not using Xorg yet.  Can you very that?
Does your system use an external monitor? If so, is LCD or CRT?  VGA, HDMI, DVI ?
What happens if, when it is black, you enter Ctrl-Alt-F1  ??
Have you configured your system so you can log in via ssh? Can you?

Re: desktop going black randomly

have you installed the correct drivers for the 9100?

Edit: Its not just the monitor going into power save mode is it?
