netcfg auto-wired not working AND network starting slowly at boot

Hello, about a month ago I noticed that net-auto-wired does not work, I had to use "sudo netcfg profilename" to obtain IP address and to make cable connection work. Now I see in /var/log/boot that it ends up with FAIL. When I try to restart this, I get:

sudo /etc/rc.d/net-auto-wired restart
:: Stopping netcfg auto-wired mode for interface [FAIL]
:: Starting netcfg auto-wired mode for interface [BUSY]
Sorry, there is already an instance of ifplugd for -r running. [FAIL]

I've no idea what to do with this.

Second issue is network start while booting, which takes about 20-30 s. There's something wrong since I remember it took less than 1 s. Ends up with DONE, but still. Thanks in advance.

Re: netcfg auto-wired not working AND network starting slowly at boot

Switching to NetworkManager "solved" the problem.
