Recommendations for a small, simple and cheap server

I want to set up a simple home router/server running arch and was looking for a nice small and cheap box that could do the job.  I've been looking at fit-pc and it looks fine, but it has way more than I need - including audio and graphics. I basically need an OK CPU, decent memory and a reasonably sized drive.  Most importantly 2 ethernet ports.

I'll probably only have to connect it to a keyboard/monitor for installation and (possibly) occasional maintenance.  This is another problem with the fit-pc - I'd have to buy a converter cable for my analogue monitor. It will be running a firewall, proxy and a web filter. Possibly in the future a small blog - although hopefully not.

The fit-pc might still be an option since it's relatively cheap, but I wondered if anyone had any decent alternatives they could recommend?

Re: Recommendations for a small, simple and cheap server

I've been running a linux server on a Shuttle KPC45 for a couple of years now. It comes with 1 PCI slot for an extra NIC. Powerconsumption is as low as 55 watts and it does the job. It is a barebone so you'll have the choice to keep the costs down. I run a celeron 240, 1,8 GHz and 1 gig RAM.

Thanks for the reply - I'm seeing newer models available nice and cheaply on ebuyer.com - although I think that's UK only

I was thinking, ¿would it be enough with a so called Nettop class computers? Like the EeeBox PC.

And they all read 'Giga LAN x 1'. OP needs 2 ports.

Very nice. But I'm wondering if there's some posibility to pay no more than 150$. I know I'm demanding a lot, but the fact is to spend the less money posible.

It may be too complicated and underpowered for your needs.
